The TODAY Show sparked an outpouring of celebration when it posed a photo to its Facebook page on April 14. The photo showed Ryan and Jillian with their parents on their wedding day. Both Ryan and Jillian – who was smiling with the eternal smile of a joyful bride – have Down syndrome.

Paul, Jillian’s dad, shared a letter he had written to his daughter, and TODAY posted it for the whole world to see. The post already has more than 50,000 reactions, 5,700 shares, and 2,000 comments – many with parents celebrating the accomplishments and inherent beauty of their own children with Down syndrome.

In part, Paul wrote:

“Dear Jillian, I don’t know what the odds are of a woman born with Down syndrome marrying the love of her life. I only know you’ve beaten them … What we couldn’t do was make other kids like you. Accept you, befriend you, stand with you in the vital social arena. We thought, “What’s a kid’s life if it isn’t filled with sleepovers and birthday parties and dates to the prom?” I worried about you then. I cried deep inside on the night when you were 12 and you came downstairs to declare “I don’t have any friends.” You’re a natural when it comes to socializing. They called you The Mayor in elementary school, for your ability to engage everyone. You danced on the junior varsity dance team in high school. You spent four years attending college classes and made lifelong impressions on everyone you met. Do you remember all the stuff they said you’d never do, Jills? You wouldn’t ride a two-wheeler or play sports. You wouldn’t go to college. You certainly wouldn’t get married. Now … look at you. You’re the nicest person I know. Someone who is able to live a life of empathy and sympathy and without agendas or guile, is someone we all want to know. … A decade ago, when a young man walked to our door wearing a suit and bearing a corsage made of cymbidium orchids said, “I’m here to take your daughter to the homecoming, sir,” every fear I ever had about your life being incomplete vanished. If you were considering inviting Kanye West to your wedding (you do you...), you might want to think twice. It may come as no surprise considering the guest in question, but when the officiant addresses the crowd, saying, "Speak now or forever hold your peace," there's a solid chance Kanye might pull a 2009 VMA reenactment. I'm gonna let you finish, but... It turns out he almost pulled a similar wedding-stopping stunt before, back when his now-wife Kim Kardashian was set to wed Kris Humphries!

On a recent episode of Kocktails With Khloé, the hostess had both her big sister and her brother-in-law, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, on the show where the latter actually opened up on his wife's infamously short-lived marriage to Atlanta Hawks basketball player, Kris Humphries. And from the sound of it, West seemed none too pleased with the match-up back in the day. Guess he knew that he was meant to be with Kim K all along!

Before Saint West, North West, and one epic European wedding extravaganza could all come to be, the rapper knew he had to put an end to this whole Humphries foolishness. In order to try to stop to their 2011 "I do's," Kanye went to some great lengths. The situation even lead him to purchasing his first ever cell phone! "I got a phone because somebody decided they wanted to marry Kris Humphries," West hilariously said on the show. "I looked on the Internet, and there was [Kim] with some extremely tall person. I was like I need to call her or something."

The man had a strategy. He began texting Kim certain photos (the totally suitable-for-work kind) that he thought that would dissuade her from tying the knot. "I started sending her pictures of certain basketball players that used to be cool and that now they wear their pants all the way up to here," West said, gesturing to his chest. "Like, 'This is your future!'"

Burying bourbon

The tradition is to bury a full bottle of bourbon upside down at the site of your wedding exactly one month before the date. The myth is, that if you do this, it won’t rain on your wedding day. Like I mentioned, outdoor weddings are huge in the south. Of course, most people don’t actually believe in the bourbon superstition, but it’s tradition, y’all!

Newlywed Laura Whyte was overjoyed to be flying to Regina last week — a chance to be reunited with her husband Matthew, who has been away studying at the RCMP training college for the past six months.

Whyte, 25, packed her bags at her Ottawa-area home, but put her fancy engagement ring and wedding band in a small green jewellery box for her carry-on.

“I don’t like to put it in my checked bag because I’ve lost my luggage before,” she said.

The rings in a white gold setting are raised, so she doesn’t usually wear them — because as an educational assistant, she doesn’t want to poke children when changing diapers. Instead, she has two other rings that are flat that she wears regularly.

How’s this for a wedding from hell? A couple from Leeds has successfully sued an amateur wedding photographer for “ruining” their big day. Not by failing to get the obligatory shot of two rings entwined on soft-focus flowers but by allegedly pitching up 45 minutes late and making the bride wade through muddy puddles to take photos in the woods nearby. Apparently the photographer, who was paid for nine hours’ work but produced just 15 photos of the reception, spent some of her time posing for selfies in the photobooth. Ah, weddings. Sometimes I wonder whether they’re a symbol of commitment or just a 10-tiered metaphor for all that is mad about modern life.

Clearly the wedding was a little less perfect when the snaps arrived, but ruined? My response to this, as with almost everything about weddings, is, in a single capped-up word, PERSPECTIVE! If your relationship can’t weather some dodgy wedding pics, you’re in trouble. Successfully inhabiting married life is precisely about not responding to every minor disaster with “IT’S RUINED!” That way lies divorce or at least a roving eye. In order to go to bed and wake up with the same person every day of our lives, till death or something else we desire do us part, we need to take the opposite attitude. Not “it’s ruined” but “ah well, so I hate you sometimes, fancy another episode of House of Cards?”

After holding his sister-in-law’s hand after dinner, one of a pair of identical twin brothers decided minor plastic surgery was the answer to their problems.

This is definitely a case of seeing double, as identical twin brothers in China are having problems being told apart, even after their marriage to identical twin sisters.

Reportedly friends and family of both halves of the equation are constantly complaining that they cannot tell the identical twin brothers apart and after the incident when out at dinner one evening, when one of the brothers found he was holding the hand of his sister-in-law and not his wife, they decided something had to be done.

The two men, Zhao Xin, and his slightly younger brother, Zhao Zun, hail from a village in Yhuncheng City in Shanxi Province. Ever since the identical twin brothers started dating twin sisters, Yun Fei and Yun Yang, it has caused endless problems for their relatives and friends.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are all set to make a much-awaited visit to India and Bhutan, April 10 onward. So, with all eyes on the Duchess, it's only obvious that she readies her India-Bhutan wardrobe much in advance.

The royal couple's itinerary includes a range of high profile events, including an evening with A-list Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan at a charity gala, meetings with local NGOs and children's charities; a visit to a slum; a hike to a mountain top monastery and a visit to the Taj Mahal, according to ibitimes.com.

Besides preparing for her six-hour trek to Tiger's Nest monastery in Bhutan--from which Kate has packed a heavy-duty pair of boots--the Duchess is expected to take along 12 to 15 different outfits for the six days of official visits. These dresses include daytime dresses as well as prom dress, according to The Telegraph.

The royal couple's tour is scheduled to start in Mumbai on April 10, from where the Duke and Duchess will travel to New Delhi, then on to Kaziranga National Park and Thimphu, capital of the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, and finally, the Taj Mahal.

Former actress Helen Flanagan has certainly come a long way since her days on the cobbles.

Perry and Michele Bonadies, owners of Rock Island Lake Club in Sparta, have had a bumpy last few years, but everything seems to be falling into place, including acquiring a new property.

After purchasing the former Rock Oak Lodge, which was in dire need of a makeover, just two years ago and investing thousands into the wedding venue located at the top of Sparta Mountain, the couple had just started to settle down and feel comfortable when opportunity came knocking.

With a successful wedding business -- they have 150 weddings booked this year alone, with three weddings set a week -- the couple are excited about their recent purchase of the Bear Brook Golf Club, off Route 94 in Fredon, which will now be called Bear Brook Valley.

More than seven months after their Aug. 16, 2015 wedding, Jaime Plant and her husband David Diaz of Royal Palm Beach are still waiting for Wedding Photography LLC to deliver a 15-minute video.

They are also upset that they can’t print the photos they received in an emailed link and in a CD because Wedding Photography LLC hasn’t given them a copyright release letter as specified in the contract. The contract called for the photos to be edited, but they aren’t.

“It’s very sad how someone could do such a thing on the most important day of a couple’s life,” Jaime said. “It’s disgusting and heartbreaking.”

aime Plant signed a contract on April 9, 2015 for a $2,000 package with Wedding Photography LLC, operated by husband-and-wife team Veronica and Roger Miranda. The fee was paid in full before the wedding. The company was based in Wellington, but recently moved to West Palm Beach and also has an office in Orlando.
