For nearly 30 years, brides-to-be have shopped at Maria’s Bridal Couture to find that Romantica bridesmaid dresses for their special day. This year, the renowned bridal boutique is expanding and enhancing its business footprint, with a new focus at its West Bloomfield location and a new store in Birmingham.
Started in Rochester, Maria’s moved to the Orchard Mall West Bloomfield in 2009. This year, the West Bloomfield Township store received a makeover, and is now known as the exclusive Michigan location for gowns by Israeli haute couture bridal designer Orabella. Known as Maria’s Bridal for Orabella, the store carries only bridal gowns and accessories.
“Orabella is for the bride who is eager to wear something different and unique, a timeless classic with unparalleled elegance and sophistication that you won’t find anywhere else,” says Nadica Ristivojevich, the owner who loves befriending her customers and walking alongside their bridal journeys.
This is Orabella’s first U.S. flagship store, Ristivojevich said. She’ll continue to carry other couture brands, but the main focus is on offering the largest selection of Orabella dresses anywhere in the United States.
Ristivojevich also opened a second store recently, in downtown Birmingham, devoted to a Bulgarian bridal designer, Julia Kontogruni. The dramatic, sexy dresses are “for the girl that really wants to be different,” she said. “The bridesmaid dress sale are smashing and inexpensive for a couture design.”
Women were ordering the designer’s elaborate, sleek gowns without even trying them on, prompting Ristivojevich to open a store dedicated to the designer.
The new shop is named after the designer, Julia Kontogruni. It is located at 110 South Old Woodward, Birmingham. A grand opening celebration will take place, 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 1.
